Welcome. My name is Jeff Crawford and
I am an Assistant Professor in Management Information Systems (MIS) in the School of Accounting & MIS at The University of Tulsa.
The two roles in my life currently keeping me busy
include: (1) husband and father and (2) a researcher / teacher at The University of Tulsa.
In the event that free time ever appears, I even have some hobbies...

Role 1: Husband and Father
First and foremost, I am a husband to my beautiful wife, Jennifer.
We have been blessed with three amazing kiddos, and they keep us quite busy.
Maddie, Abby and Nathan are growing by leaps and bounds every day,
and I smile everytime I think about how wonderful they are. It
truly is a blessing to belong to such a wonderful family!
Jen and I are both believers in Jesus Christ, and strive to instill that
faith in our three children. We are actively involved in our
local church,
and are extremely thankful to serve with such a great group of people.

Role 2: Researcher / Teacher at The University of Tulsa
In August of 2006 I became a faculty member within the
School of Accounting & MIS
at The University of Tulsa.
Participation in a diverse set of MIS, Management and Marketing seminars
combined with my professional experiences in process improvement and IT management
have helped shape my current research interests in IT project management,
technology-enabled groups and their development,
and the adoption and diffusion of IT innovations. More information
on my current research activities can be found
within this site.

Concerning my professional background...
Before I began the Ph.D. program at OU, I was an Assistant Vice President
with MidFirst Bank,
focusing on the implementation and diffusion of an
intranet environment within the organization. During this time
I was faced with the difficulty of delivering IT projects on-time and
within specification. While working to improve my capabilities in this area, I
obtained a Project Management Institute certification, becoming a
Project Management Professional
in the summer of 2002. More on my professional background can be found here.
I was often heard to mutter "I hate programming" when working on
my undergraduate degree, so how'd I end up in this line of work?
I initially began my IT career working with data communications, first
in a Novell Netware environment (becoming a Certified Novell Engineer in
both the 3.x and 4.x versions), and then in a Microsoft Windows environment
(becoming a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer in Windows NT 4.0).
Over time, however, my professional career directed me to focus on
organizational process improvement initiatives enabled via technology.
I eventually came to understand that programming in a web environment
is a great way to create and sustain process improvements within an organization.
More information about my progression from a data networking geek to
a more refined programming geek can be found
within this site.
There was a time in life where I actually had hobbies. While working
on my undergraduate degree, I spent a considerable amount of time
playing my guitar, whether teaching lessons or playing in the University
of Oklahoma jazz ensemble. After a brief haitus, I picked it up
again and have been playing more and more over the past several years.
My kids love to dance while I play, and I get a kick out of performing...
The other hobby I've picked up lately has been making writing pens.
I purchased a lathe several years ago and have really enjoyed
my time with different woodworking projects. For those interested,
you can look at pen making materials
on-line.
